Dr. Sally K. Ride Elementary School PTA

Welcome back Sally K. Ride (SKR) Community,

My name is Suzanne Hsu and I am your SKR PTA president this year. I look forward to serving you and our students as our local leader to an organization dedicated to the educational success of children and the promotion of parental involvement in schools. As I thought about this leadership opportunity, I felt our PTA should have an emphasis on COMMUNITY. We have a wonderfully diverse group of students, families, and educators. I feel we should be able to help one another by sharing our experiences and knowledge as a community. Our schools are such an integral part of how we gather socially as a group with the common goal of educating our children. We need to foster this sense of community at Sally K. Ride, since we are so rich in our experiences. Although it is easy to stay in our safe, separate comfort zones, we all grow by sharing our worlds together. Our PTA has many dedicated members that work hard for our kids, but there is much room for growth.

Our PTA board has worked hard on preparing your child for a fun academic and social education. Involvement is the key to our community of learners. Research shows that children perform better academically and socially when parents and families are involved both at home and in school. Please help insure your student’s success at school by joining the PTA. Join us and learn about our school community and how to make an impact.

A great opportunity to learn more about the community at SKR is to join us at the PTA’s first annual Family Fun Game Night on September 23rd at 7 p.m. There will be a variety of age appropriate games and a chance to meet your student’s classmates and families. We hope to see you then!
